Having a baby is one of the best joys in life. What happens to our bodies after is where we start looking for answers as to how we can fix the “post-pregnancy pooch” and stretch marks. Stretch marks can become less noticeable after 6 to 12 months; what’s more important to most women is the weight gain that comes with pregnancy. Some women are lucky enough to see the weight disappear immediately after giving birth, but this is rare. It takes months– even years– to get rid of the post baby belly and once the weight is off, you still may notice that “pregnancy pooch”. For some women it never goes away entirely. Below are some ways to help you get rid of your post baby belly.

Exercise

With a doctor’s permission, most women can begin working out within a few weeks of delivery. The key to a good workout is not to do it everyday, it is to be consistent and motivated. Focus on abdominal exercises to help slim and tone the belly area. I’ve learned that going on the elliptical and treadmill for hours isn’t going to do me any good but burn some calories. If you want to tone up and see results fast then you have to get off the machines, pick up some weights and start floor exercises.

Diet

Your body needs time to recover from labor and delivery. Try to give yourself a couple weeks before you start watching your calorie intake. Eating clean and drinking lots of water is a good start. Stay away from carbs such as bread, pasta and rice. Try eating proteins like lean meats, fish, and eggs. Also some nutritional foods are whole-grains, fruits, and raw or steamed veggies. Just stay active and eat a nutritious diet, and you’ll find the pounds will slowly drop off.

Spanx, Corsets & Wraps

This is nothing new, but its something any mother should consider trying after giving birth to help motivate with the weight loss process. Though mostly for cosmetic reasons, there are also some health benefits to wearing Spanx, Corsets, or Wraps. The cosmetic reasons are so it can hold everything in place and help it stay there. In other words, smooth out your hips or baby belly. The health reasons are it can help with back pain tremendously. Some women wear it specifically for that reason. Also, it can help with water build up and if you had a C-section it helps with the healing and gives your incision support.

CoolSculpting

Non-invasive. No downtime. No needles. CoolSculpting is the perfect way to get rid of the stubborn pooches that wont go away with diet and exercise. For a mother on a busy schedule it only takes one hour out of your day. The way it works is easy and simple, freezing the fat to the point of destruction. Once crystallized, the fat cells die and are naturally eliminated from your body. CoolSculpting is perfect for areas such as belly, inner thighs, love handles, hips and arms.
