So you took the plunge and got Botox to help reduce those wrinkles around your eyes or between your brows. But, now what? Too often people get their Botox injections at assembly line centers that send them on their way without any sort of aftercare instructions. Well, we’re here to help. Botox is a quick and easy procedure, but there are some do’s and don’ts that you should be aware of after your Botox treatment:
Don’t Lay Down
Feeling like you want to kick back and relax after your Botox treatment? Not so fast! You should avoid laying down flat for four hours after your injections. Lying down flat can not only increase the likelihood of swelling, but it can also cause the Botox to spread to areas of your face that you don’t want. This increases the risks of complications and unwanted results. So, keep your head up!
Don’t Touch The Bumps
You may notice little bumps at the injection sites that look like bug bites. There may also be some redness from the needle injections. This is a perfectly normal part of the injection process and will resolve within hours. Whatever you do, don’t touch or massage the area. You don’t want the Botox to migrate to where it shouldn’t be. You also don’t want to risk getting an infection at the injection sites. Resist the urge!
Skip The Workout
You want to avoid any strenuous activity for 24 hours after your injections. Strenuous activity increases the risks of swelling and bruising. It can also cause the Botox to spread to an unwanted area. Alternatively, you can workout before getting your injections.
As you can see, getting Botox injections is an easy process with limited restrictions. You don’t have to take any time off from work, and after 24 hours can resume all your activities normally. Remember, it takes an average of 5-7 days for you to start seeing your Botox results. In some cases it can take up to 2 weeks for full results to occur.
